A cat in my life

A Cat in My Life

As far back as I can remember there had been always a cat in our house to save our house from rat menace. Except me, for all of my family member, they were adopted for a purpose. They were always abandoned from care. But as a kid I was fond of cats. Among of all, there was a period when I was totally addicted to this cat. Her color was white with yellow, brown and black patches. She had a fluffy furry tail which makes her more adorable. My family let her on stay in our house because she was a meticulous predator.

She never goes near by anyone, except me and my mother. Because everybody turns their nose at her. She likes my mother because she is the person who serves her food, stays at home always, never chased or growled at her. She walks through the legs of my mother and rubs her furry body with the legs of my mother, while she is busy at working. When my mother gets disturbed and gets irritated, she runs off. That way sometimes she makes fun of my mother.

Though there was no need to address her so that nobody kept a name for her. I used to call her "Maanu"(in Odiya "Maanu" is used as terms of endearment, especially girl child). Sometimes my mother teases me, don't treat her as if that's your daughter, makes me blush. When I stroke her head or caress her furry body; she starts furring and allows me to do more. Those who don't know, let me tell, cats furr when they are happy. God knew whether she understood my language, there was always a reply with a 'meow', every time I spelled her name. As more as time I spent with her, I started understand what was she really trying to indicate, from her body language.

There was a trend, whenever I eat, I look for Maanu to be there and share some of my food. I sacrifice my pillow to keep her warm while sleeping. Surprizingly oneday I came to know that she has given birth to tree little kittens in the store room. It was so exciting moment when I saw three tumbling, squealing kittens for the first time. Gradually those kittens started growing and started hopping, jumping and plying in the yard. Sometimes Maanu lies down on the floor spreading her tail and moves it in a random way so that her baby can play with it.

One day, suddenly Maanu gone missing. I searched her everywhere, asked and inquired if she is seen by anyone at somewhere for the last time. Everywhere I got a negative response. Finally after two days I found her dead. Somehow she managed herself trapped in a narrow passage between two walls and stuck there for several days without food. That was a worst and painful death, one can say. Her death made me sad for several days and gave me little more responsibilities to take care of her kittens.

Sometimes in life, lot of things happens and we remember only some of those incidents, moments, places, people or objects which we like the most or we are so involved and attached to them. I'm writing this because Maanu touched my heart and moved me once. I still remember her.

Goldsmith and His Mysterious Wife

Long long ago there was a goldsmith living with his wife and father. Both the father and son were  desirous and determined hard worker. His wife was beautiful and devoted dutiful house-wife. She has a gifted sense to understand animal's talk but the father and son had no clue about her extraordinary gift. Literally they were a happy family.

One day the goldsmith with his wife were returning home from relative's house along the riverside. On the way, his wife surprisingly paused while walking.
He asked, "what is it"?
She said, "I can hear a Jackal's bark and I can understand what the jackal mean to say."
She told her husband that the Jackal is intended to say that there is a human dead body, a diamond ring on its finger, floating on the moving river. If anyone helps to get the body out of the water, he can get his food. In return of the favor, the helper can keep the diamond ring. She wished her husband to bring the dead body out of the water. But the husband couldn't believe her, thinking that it is foolish and unbelievable.
"how can a person understand an animal's speech!", He exclaimed.
Without giving a second thought, he clearly denied. But the wife was so greedy to get the diamond ring. Her keen desire towards diamond ring made her listen to Jackal and do that by herself, though she found no alternatives. She told her husband to stand on the riverbank and wait until she comes back with the ring. She entered into the water and get the dead body out of the water. Surprisingly there was a diamond ring worn by the dead. While she tried to remove the ring from the finger of the dead, it didn't slip due to swollen up. So, she bit it with her teeth and pulled it out.

All her actions were watched by her husband from distance. He was completely amazed and thought his wife is eating the dead, must be a scavenger. There were millions of doubts popped up in his mind. He horrified by his wife's activity. Without letting her know that he is frightened, he pretended normal and returned home with her. As soon as he reached home, he explained whole the incident happened, to his father secretly. The father was shocked when the son enlightened to the secret of his wife. The father said to his son, "If we let her live with us, definitely she will kill us for her hunger." They have decided to leave her alone somewhere in the jungle to get rid of her.

As planned, next morning the son deceived his wife that there is a message from her parents, willing to see her. As soon as she heard that she is going to visit her parents, she made herself ready in a minute enthusiastically. Both the husband and wife departed from their home. In middle of the way the husband intentionally insisted to take diversion from the regular route and adapt a shortcut to reach earlier to the destination, so that he can achieve his goal. On the way they had to pass through a carnivorous mysterious jungle. His motive was to leave her in the jungle.

While passing through the woods the wife heard a voice of a python. She paused there for a minute and went towards the direction where the sound was originated. She found that a python was trapped in a cave closed by a big rock from its opening, pleading for help. The python hissed from the cave, whoever remove the rock and set him free, can take all the ornaments he has been stored from the people he had hunted till date. The wife insisted her husband to help the python. But the husband was terribly scared to trust his mysterious wife. She assured her husband that nothing is dangerous. Finally, the husband agreed to the insist and moved the rock with little fear and hesitation. As soon as the opening of the cave is clear a huge python came out of the cave and went for hunt thanking the couple with pleasure. Later the couple grabbed all the ornaments and wealth stored by the python. The husband delighted with his wife's skill. He realized that really her wife has the ability to understand animal's language. She is not an evil or witch. Latter he revealed how he was going to get rid of her. Forgetting and ignoring the misunderstanding they returned their home back with joy.

While approaching home, they met an old friend on their way. To spend some time with the friend, the husband told his wife to proceed alone without him. Wife left him and moved towards home. The time she arrived home the father saw the daughter-in-law came home alone without his son. He suspected that she has slayed and ate his son. Without wasting a second he banged her head very hard with a hammer. She died on the spot at a glance. Latter when the son reached home with so much wealth he found his wife lying on the ground dead and father crying. His father surprised seeing him alive and said that he killed her suspecting the slayer. The son explained everything happened at their journey. In the end the father regretted for suspecting and killing his beloved innocent daughter-in-law without knowing the fact.

Story Moral: Don't decide or react when you are angry or without knowing the truth.

A Promise

No matter when, no matter where
I assure you, I will be there

Name it now, Name it how
I can affirm that I care

Give your worry, Give your sarrow
Let me stand by your side to bear

You mean so much to me
The bond is so rare

I pray and wish for you
Always that's best and fair...

Grossly Witnessed

Grossly Witnessed
Like every day I boarded on 21G to my office. You can conjure up how grueling to travel by MTC at peak hours. I was standing on the front-door facing towards the driver. Adjacent to me on my right there was a girl, age between 18-20, standing near me holding the pole and facing towards me. From my dimmed memory I can recall she was in white Tee and jeans suspending her bag belt on her left shoulder to right hip. Since we could see each other we never had an eye contact, I guess. As time was passing, the bus was rolling towards our destinations. Though I was looking out through the window shield of the bus of my left, I could view her through my peripheral vision of my right. She was texting and smiling mysteriously. She was comfortable where she was standing. Suddenly I sensed that she is not ease with something. she was disturbed and uncomfortable with something. As we all cramped inside the bus, why is she so embarrassed and uneasy? This question Aroused my interest to find out the reason behind it. My eyes gave a quick scan quietly. Oh, no. Its a guy behind her trying to molest her.

That was not a surprise for me, as perverts take advantages in the crowded buses often(I also humiliated many times. Doesn't matter if you are boy or girl). They never miss an opportunity or, if they are more desperate they start drooling at their victim and can create opportunities. Anyways, without describing their nature lets concentrate on this case only. I was observing. The girl was so pissed off and was trying to move from the place where she was standing but she was cramped on her place. she was totally helpless. Having mercy for the girl I thought to help. But how! I was with some kind of hesitation; if I ask the guy to give her space and the guy asks me "who are you to her? or don't try to be a hero. etc..!" then that will hamper my self respect. I was fighting with myself not to  showcase my bravery and be calm. My conscience was not allowing me to witness such kind of crime and be quite. I was also helpless but angry. There were lots of arguments going on my head. finally I couldn't hold myself and asked the girl, "why cant you just object him? If someone is humiliating you, why cant you yell at him?"

As I can understand, for a girl it is easy to hide and suffer than bringing the shameful truth go public. Perhaps, she was doing the same. But after hearing me asking she realized that other than her someone else is aware of it. controlling her agitation, her mixed emotions came out with few drops of tears in her eyes. Seeing her cry the lad moved away and got off at next immediate stoppage. Definitely, her day was spoiled by the incident, I can say!

Still I wonder why don't people react to such kind of gross wicked crime! If that girl would open up her mouth against him, I'm sure, that guy would have got a very good lesson and would think twice to repeat that again...

Off Late

There was always a thought,
If I ever lose you
There will never be someone new.

What i feel about you, you'll never know
Because those feelings are not for show.

you are the best, then and now
I couldn't say,
Don't leave, please don't go!!!

Sometimes

Sometimes we say,
I just want to see you happy.
But, deep inside we want to be their happiness.
sometimes,
Everybody sees only and only evil in you.
Sometimes,
We have lot to say. But nobody has a damn minute to hear a sentence from us.
Sometimes,
When we understand someone better, we're overoptimistic.
Sometimes,
Our excuses are not so far reasonable. But you have to be mushy.
Sometimes,
Its better not to showcase our true feelings. whether its good or bad.
Sometimes,
How hard you try you can't keep your promises. Its like bringing the moon to the earth.
Sometimes,
We don't have guts to admit our mistakes and apologize. But, we can feel guilty.
Sometimes,
Its okey to be alone. No one can hurt you that way.
Sometimes,
We feel everyone has exception for everything, except us.
Sometimes,
The people we love the most are hardest to hold on to.
Sometimes,
We turn into bad because we know that its easy to make someone hate rather than love.
sometimes,
Its better to give up before the fight begins and let it go when you know that there is no more reason to hang on.
But, still sometimes a hope resides in us (if we are really honest) that one day we will be fine with a comeback.
